Best Black Friday Sales of 2016- UPDATED

bestblackfridaysalesAt this point, if you’re like me,  you’re full from a hearty Thanksgiving daylong and are ready to veg on the couch and do some online shopping. There are some amazing sales  this year and include a serious discount on some of my tried and true favorites. It’s a great time to pick up some gifts and some things you may have had your eyes on. Keep checking back as I’ll continue to update this post with more items and pictures throughout the weekend.

Scroll to the bottom of this blog post for a full list of sales details and stores.

Some of my favorite items from a few of my favorite places to shop that are having amazing sales right now are……:.

Use the code holiday at checkout.

J.Crew is especially great for gifts because it has a little something for everyone in the family. I popped in yesterday to pick up a few items for Will from the men’s slim shop and take a look around before the rush. The slim shirts from here fit him the best and is ideal for taller men with an athletic build. For reference he is about 6′ 1″ and 205 lbs and wears an XL.

My picks/loves….

Black Watch Excursion Quilted Vest– Although I have a few vest options in my wardrobe, I don’t actually have a quilted one yet. I planned on picking up a solid navy version but opted to order this printed plaid version instead. I own quite a few solid colored sweaters and can’t wait to pair this together for a more casual, but festive look.

Classic Pave Bracelet– I’ve had this for a number of years and it still looks brand new. It’s such a timeless piece as the name suggests and goes with any outfit. I’ve had only positive experiences when it comes to jewelry from this brand and this is a great opportunity to pick up some new baubles to jazz up any outfit. You can see this bracelet on me here. If you have slimmer wrists like I do, all you have to do is hook the clasp onto the last link itself.

Silk Tuxedo Ruffle Top– The top is perfect for the office and would look just as good with a pair of jeans. I initially ordered this in the petite 00 and it ran about a size too big. The petite 000 sold out quickly and hasn’t been restocked unfortunately.  If it’s still in stock in your size, I definitely recommend picking it up!

Textured Summer Straw Hat– I’m incredibly picky with my hats and am a sunscreen nazi. With that said, this is one of the best sun hats I’ve tried and it’s finally back in stock. I took this one with me this past summer to the Amalfi Coast (posted here)and the brim was large enough to actually provide my skin with some shade, but not so massive that it would catch wind or block my vision when walking around. Just in case though, I used these hat combs and they were amazing! Definitely a must have to keep your hat on your head. Plus,it’s truly packable as opposed to some hats and won’t lose it’s shape if you loosely fold it into your beach bag.

Stadium Cloth Cocoon Coat– I have this in the grey color and it’s been on heavy rotation lately. I have this in a 00P which is the perfect size for me. It’s a more relaxed ‘boyfriend’ fit and just so easy to throw on and go.

Sperry Shearwater Buckle Boots– This is so sleek looking for a winter boot. I’m hesitating on picking this up because I already have so many black boots but I am obsessed with how chic these are. The combination of soft shearling, black leather, and brass hardware on this boot is just so right.

Maddie Pant in Bi-Stretch Wool– I have a difficult time finding work pants that fit me comfortably without the need for alterations. Although I love these pants and own them in a few colors, I had a really hard time narrowing down the correct size. Petite sizing is exclusively online now so it was a bit of a process. I’m a 00P/25 normally and ordered every color in my usual size. They fit but the tighter fit around the thighs made it look too casual and unprofessional. I also want to note that the blush and white versions run about a 1/2 size smaller than all the others and are unlined.  I ended up reordering them in a 0P and 00R which ended up being comparable to each other size wise with the oP being slightly shorter at about ankle length. I ended up keeping the navy and black in the 0P and the gray in the 00R because I already owned a pair of ankle length gray trousers.

Plaid Flannel Pajama Set– I’m currently wearing this set as I write this post that I picked up during the after Christmas sale last year. Although I don’t recall the exact price, I’m pretty sure it was similar to what it is during this sale. I have this in two different plaid color combos in a XXXS regular and it is so comfy and warm. Although it’s not petite, the pant length is perfect and doesn’t drag around. Don’t you just hate that? If you’re shorter than me though, the good news is it is also available in petite sizing if you do need it.

Large Pouch in Italian Calf Hair (Champagne Chocolate)– This is a budget friendly option to the popular Clare V. version. Leopard print is a fun neutral that goes with everything and for someone who likes to organize, you can never have too many pouches. I picked this up yesterday because I thought it would be the perfect pouch to throw in a tote to transition from work to night and use as a clutch or just to separate essentials. There was only 1 left in the store so grab this one soon because I have a feeling it’s going to sell out quick!

SHOP J.CREW MEN’S (what I picked up for Will yesterday):

Cole Haan
50% select styles including my favorite marina OTK boots as well as 30% off everything else

Marina OTK Boots– These were my first pair of Cole Haan boots and are perfect if you have petite/narrower legs. They’re a little pricey full price so 50% is an amazing deal.  Initially, I wasn’t sure about the heel but it is surprisingly comfortable given the height and how thin they are. I love the pointed toe and how rich the suede looks. I took these in a 6 and depending on how wide your feet are, you may want to go up half a size since the toe box is on the narrower side. This is a good option if you’re looking for a dressier OTK boot. Compared to my Stuart Weitzman boots, this is even a slightly narrower fit. You can see a picture of me wearing them on my instagram.

Narelle Tall Boots– I love OTK boots but to be honest, I don’t think they’re office appropriate. At least not for me…I’ve been on the market for a pair of knee high boots and it’s been harder to find than I expected. I didn’t want something as casual as a riding boot but a knee high version of some of my favorite OTK options. I just ordered these today and I’m excited to get these in. From the picture and description, I’m expecting it to fit just like my marina OTK but just shorter.  Let me know if any of you own this!

Capulet Suede Moto Jacket– You may have already seen me wearing this on instagram and I’m happy to report that this is now fully restocked. This one fits the way you would imagine a suede jacket is supposed to. Which is more uncommon than you’d think. I have the color cinder and it fits like a glove in an xs. I’ve seen it sell out pretty quickly but just keep checking back as I’ve noticed during a sale, inventory tends to fluctuate a lot.

Wayf Remember Me Pintuck Dress– I wanted pick up a few more long sleeve dresses to round out my fall/winter wardrobe. I picked this one up as well and figured I’d mention it in case it comes back in stock because it is just so stinking cute. I love the ruffle detail of this berry colored dress and can’t wait to incorporate it into both my professional and weekend wardrobe.

J Brand High Rise Alana Jeans (Vanity)– It’s always a bonus when you can just wear something right off the rack without alterations. These jeans are as comfy as PJ’s  and are the perfect fit. Black jeans are a classic wardrobe staple so it’s worth it to invest in a good quality pair that will stay with you for years.

Stuart Weitzman Boots–  SW is my favorite boot brand. Some of my favorite SW boots are the 5050 boots, highland boots, and the lowland boots. All are OTK styles with an amazing fit, quality, and comfort. They can be pricey so this sale is a great way to invest in a pair at a discounted price.

Wayf Paxton Shirtdress– I initially saw this dress on and it had great reviews. They didn’t have my size but they had it on here so I recently ordered it with the other Wayf dress in an xs. I love all of the details from the ruffled arms to the lace tie (optional) down to the pleated bodice.

Kate Spade Earrings Infiniti and Beyond Knot Earrings– I probably own/wear earrings more than any other piece of jewelry, aside from my wedding rings of course. I love simple, but classic studs like this and this for everyday.

Sarto Penny Loafer– I ordered these today in the black patent size 6. I’ve been upping my loafer game this season and love when you can still be comfortable in stylish pieces.

SJP Pointy Toe Block Heel Pump – I find blocked heels much more comfortable to walk in outdoors because you don’t have to worry about getting caught in grates or side walk cracks. I love the cobalt blue that’s bright without being obnoxiously loud.

Steven Madden Pistol Bootie– Chelsea boots are a classic staple in the cooler months and pairs so easily with basics. I like that this is a mid height heel. I have a pair of stiletto chelsea boots as well as a flat pair, but sometimes you still want a heel without the aches and pains at the end of the day.

Lush Cross Front Oversize Tee– I have this in the black color and love it for those throw on and go moments. It’s a step up from a basic tee but pairs with jeans just as easily. It’s flowy and super flattering as well.

AG The Legging Ankle Jeans– AG makes great jeans but it can come with a hefty price tag. These are one of my favorite pairs of jeans with minimal distressing and as the name suggests, as comfy as a pair of worn in leggings. It only needed about an inch off the bottom but I just used my Nordstrom alterations credit which automatically gets reloaded with $100 every year when you have a store debit card.

Topshop Moto Leigh Ripped Skinny Jeans– These are my go to distressed black skinnies. They do run about a size small so I suggest going up a size. For reference, I have these in a 26×30.

Rag & Bone Destroyed Capri Skinny Jeans (Murray)– These are a bit thicker and the gray undertones makes it perfect for cooler weather. You can see them on me here. They’re technically capris but if you’re petite, it the perfect ankle length.

Halogen Noble Over the Knee Boots– These OTK are one of the most budget friendly options I’ve seen/own. The chunkier heel makes it really easy to walk in and is perfect for day or night. See it on me here

Halogen Owen Pointy Toe Ghillie Flat– You can see these on me here when I first picked them up during the anniversary sale. I love them with ankle light wash denim so you can see the cute ankle tie detail.

Sorel Joan of Arc Waterproof Snow Boots– I bought these last year in preparation for the big snow storm and they did just the trick keeping me toasty and try. See them on me here

Rails Hunter Button Down Front Shirt– If you haven’t tried a Rails shirt yet, this is a good time to try one. It’s not often the ‘normal’ colors get discounted. They are super soft and figure flattering. It’s the right balance of not too tight, but not too loose.

Burgundy Moment

burgundy-momentI’ve been having a moment with burgundy lately and lucky for me, so have retailers. It’s so appropriate for the season and looks good on just about everyone. I especially love the combination of burgundy with navy and the dramatic  vibes it gives. I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite burgundy pieces that I’ve added to my wardrobe as well as others I have my eyes on.

  1. J.Crew Tuxedo Ruffle Top in Stretch Silk Georgette: I ordered this in my normal 00 and unfortunately had to bring it back. It is a lot blousier than their other tops and the 000 that I needed was sold out in all colors. Hopefully your size is still in stock! This also comes in a yummy navy and white polka dot print. How adorable would the polka dot blouse be with this skirt?!
  2. Steve Madden ‘Edit’ Burgundy Booties: This bootie comes in this amazing burgundy as well a stunning blue and black. I love pieces like this that can really take even a pair of jeans and a t-shirt to the next level.
  3. Printed Topshop shirt (currently 40% off!): If you have a hard time finding off the shoulder tops that don’t look like it’s swallowing you alive, you’ll really appreciate this top. It’s a good length to wear with higher waisted bottoms if you don’t prefer the cropped look and satisfies the off the shoulder cravings without the fabric bulk. I love a good print and the burgundy tones of this one makes it the perfect piece to transition the summery style of ‘off the shoulder’ into the autumn months. You can see this on me here
  4. Vince Camuto ‘Barsha’ Lace-up Pump: This would be so gorgeous with a LBD for the holidays. I own a few different versions of both flats and heels that lace-up and it always gives a classic simpler outfit a whole new look.
  5. BlankNYC Burgundy Suede Jacket: I’ve tried this jacket on in an XS in the tan color and it has a very petite friendly fit.  I didn’t end up keeping that one because the color didn’t look that great against my yellow toned skin. I LOVE this shade though and it is so unique. It’s such a great quality jacket for the price point and real suede.
  6. J.Crew Faux Leather Pleated Mini Skirt: This skirt comes in both a beautiful burgundy as well as a chic black. If you’re lucky enough that it is still in stock in your size, act fast as sizes are extremely limited and selling out fast. I’m hoping it gets restocked as I was only able to grab the black mini in the petite sizing but it ended up being too short. Leather whether real or faux is one of those fabrics that look so cheap when not done right but this one is definitely a winner. It comes in both regular and petite sizes we well as a midi and mini length.
