Review: Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution

With a bottle reportedly sold every 6 seconds, I had some pretty high expectations for the most popular micellar solution on the market. If you don’t know what micellar is, well, don’t worry I didn’t either until I looked it up. Basically, micelles are tiny molecules that suspend themselves in water and absorb dirt and oil on your face. Well, Biodemera is just micellar water, so a whole bunch of these molecules in water.

Sounds pleasant huh?

Well actually it is supposed to be. The product is alcohol free and is supposed to be safe on sensitive skin. It got its rise to fame when it gained popularity at fashion shows. Because no water or rinsing is needed, this formula proved to be useful during quick makeup changes for models when sinks weren’t readily accessible. When I was in France where this product originates, I picked up 6 bottles. Yes, that’s right 6. I was a good big sister and gave 2 of them to my sister to try out. They were surprisingly affordable compared to the prices I’ve seen them go for in the U.S.  I was able to get 2 of the larger bottles in a value set. I’ve been using it for several months now and still have half a bottle left so it’s safe to say that one bottle lasts an extremely long time.

As far as effectiveness goes, it is equivalent to a basic make-up wipe but it does not do a very good job at removing waterproof mascara. For waterless and complete make up removal, I would prefer to use a make-up wipe and Bliss Lid & Lash Remover. If you have sensitive skin that gets irritated by make-up wipes, this product would definitely have more advantages since you can use a softer, less abrasive facial cotton (like this one) and control the amount of moisture. For me, I don’t think this is the best product for removing a full face of make-up. However, it is amazing for fixing those make-up oops moments and removing swatches from my arms. It’s going to take me forever to get through my stash but I would definitely pick this up again.

What do you think? Have you tried this product? Do you think it lives up to it’s hype?
