Review: Urban Decay OZ- Glinda Palette

DSC_2284_edited-1

The Glinda Palette is one of the two gorgeous limited edition palettes recently created by Urban Decay for the launch of Disney’s new movie, Oz The Great and Powerful. I’ve broken my review on the Urban Decay Oz Palettes into three separate posts.

Details:
Eyeshadows

  • Tornado is a rich deep purple with pink/lavender shimmer and a slightly frosted finish. The color applies beautifully and has great pigmentation. The texture is just the perfect amount of softness for easy blending and is incredibly buttery and dense. This works great in the outer V area to easily transition a look from day to night. This is my favorite shade in this palette.
  • Aura is a is a duo pot with two shades in one. The two shades are both iridescent and have a duo-chrome finish. One side is a pale blue pink/purple, and the other side is a pale peachy pink. These shades are very unique as I have never seen anything exactly like it before. The color payoff is okay but not as great as the others. I don’t like wearing them alone but they work well layered on top of another shade to bring more dimension into the look.
  • Magic is a warm pink with a purple undertone and gold shimmer in a satin finish. The pigmentation is great and the texture is buttery for easy application and blending.
  • Illusion is a pale champagne peach with satin finish. It leans on the warm side and has great color payoff and texture. This works great as an all over lid color or a highlight as well.
  • Oz is a duo pot with two shades in one. One half of it is a rich metallic gold with gold glitter and yellow undertones, and the other half of it is a cool silver metallic with silver glitter. The glitter is a little chunky for my liking. It is pretty but a bit of a hassle to apply and take off due to fallout. I found glitter on my cheeks after a few hours so if that is something that really bothers you, you might not like this. I would suggest doing your face make up last if you don’t already if you do decide to try these shades out.
  • South is a warm oyster gray with shimmer and bits of silver micro glitter in a frosty metallic finish. It has a great texture and good color pay off. There was no visible glitter once applied on the lid as I thought there would be since you can clearly see it in the pan. I didn’t have any issues with fall out either.
  • Eye Pencil
    • Rockstar is a dark eggplant color in the award winning 24/7 pencil formula. It is a super wearable color and looks beautiful day or night and is a refreshing break from the usual black and brown liner. The formula applies smoothly in a matte finish with no tugging and lasts for at least 8 hours. The pigmentation on it is great as well and I was able to get a dark line with just one swipe.
    Lip Color
    • Glinda is a light sheer beige/nude lipgloss stick that is one of those ‘your lips but better’ shades that I love. The formula is super creamy and gives a semi-opaque glossy finish with very little product.  It is a little tacky but that is something that usually comes with the territory when it comes to lipgloss. Normally when you reduce tackiness, you also reduce longevity. This stays on for at least 4 hours which is pretty decent so the tackiness is something I can accept. I swatched this in the store next to the Naked shade lipgloss stick and they are exactly the same color.

Thanks for the swatches! I like the packaging for this! Wasn’t sure if I wanted to spend my money on this palette but it looks like it’s a great deal, especially with my medium skin tone.Again, thanks for the fast review! 🙂
